From the bestselling author of Killing Kryptonite and The Bait of Satan comes the newly revised edition of John Bevere’s classic Under Cover.
Ever wonder how to respond to a difficult boss? Why you should listen to them in the first place?
By teaching us how to properly relate to leadership, John shows why living under authority is better than we think.
The truth is, we will all one day have to follow the leader. Whether at school, at work, in the military, or even in the national political arena, the question of who will lead and who will follow is constantly before us. Your response will determine your future.
Chapter 2 “It is hard to understand kingdom principles with a demonic mindset”
Chapter 3, he says, “The Church often veers away from the core definition of sin.” The true meaning of sin is lawlessness. 1 John 3:4 “4 Anyone who indulges in sin lives in moral anarchy, for the definition of sin is breaking God’s law.”
Chapter 6 “You can live a life of self-denial and sacrifice and not fulfil God’s purpose or will! In fact, you could choose self-denial and sacrifice and still be in rebellion to God!” 1 Samuel 15:23 “23For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”
Chapter 9 “We must learn to honour, revere, respect; to treat with deference and submission, and perform relative duties to those who are in authority.”
Chapter 10 “Many times God will send us what we need in a package we don’t want.”
“The way you treat him (the Pastor) is the way you respond to Jesus ”
Chapter 11 “We can Obey and not necessarily be submissive ”
Chapter 12 “Many times I will keep the wisdom of his decision from you on purpose, to see if you will follow him as he follows Me”
Chapter 12 “Many times I will keep the wisdom of his decision from you on purpose, to see if you will follow him as he follows Me”
Chapter 13 “God our Father has a certain goal to accomplish in each of us. Let me warn you, it may not sound delightful, popular, or pain-free, but it is what’s best for us. His desire is to break us.”
Chapter 13 “Spiritual authority is promised to those who suffer like Christ. The greater hardship you endure, the greater the authority God entrusts to you.
Chapter 14 “But our response to the sins of others, especially those who are leaders, is one of the greatest indicators of our spiritual maturity.”
Chapter 15 “Division is not limited only to contray words or actions; it goes deeper, to the mind, heart and spirit.”

Never really thought I had an authority problem. I mean, I knew that if I disobey delegated authority, I am disobeying God, but this book shows me exactly where I was in rebellion against authority.
This is a book of response, honour, obedience, and authority. Each chapter felt like a punch in my stomach, but at the end of the chapter, I would always feel liberated.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 TPT “17 Now, the ‘Lord’ I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit, and wherever he is Lord, there is freedom. 18 We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil, we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
I understand that this book has benefited many people, but I believe God brought it to me for my good. Although I am unmarried, not living alone, nor am I a pastor, I still reside under my father’s roof. I take the teachings in this book personally and reflect on how I can apply them, not just with my parents, but also with my older sister. She is delegated authority after my parents, because God destined her to be my older sister. So if I don’t honour her, I don’t honour my parents, and I don’t honour God.
I view obedience as a test of what my heart condition is, because it’s easy for me to simply go along with everything I am asked to do. But after reading this book, I constantly ask myself, “Is this true obedience?” Even when listening to Pastor John’s messages about the soul divide, they tie in together so well. I mean, a soul divide can come and show me whether I am in true obedience or just walking around like a broken record, saying yes to everything and not exactly submitting. I take the time to ask God to reveal the condition of my heart throughout each instruction given to me.
Now, whenever someone gives me an instruction, whether I agree with it or not, whether it comes from a pastor or my parents through my younger sister, I see it as if God Himself is standing right in front of me.
